Beauty. A Subjective, Objective Cultural or Sexual Perception

Can nudity be about aesthetics or is it about sexuality? Some suggest a cultural bias.

Both images convey beauty. However, I would suggest that one conveys intrigue and the other, gratification invirtuo.

If you are looking at a lovely woman and considering her as a possible sexual conquest, you are not able to experience her beauty in the fullest or purest sense; you are distracted from the form as represented in your experience.
And Shaftesbury, too, localizes beauty to the representational capacity of the mind. (Shaftesbury 1738, 222).

Collings’s list includes works by Piero della Francesca, Michelangelo, Magritte, Gauguin and American artist Robert Rauschenberg, amongst others.
