when you demonize, you dehumanize. When you dehumanize, it allows you to kill. “No country on Earth that would tolerate missiles…”

“.. raining down on its citizens from outside its borders,” Says Man Who Regularly Bombs Pakistan and Yemen

Mr Obama, the President of USA, lost the moral high ground the day he uttered those words.  It will haunt him forever.

Until then 85% of the global village population, although not directly linked in anyway to the USA, believed in Mr Obama. He had a certain charisma and they secretly chanted,  ” Yes we can” to overcome the misery of their everyday subsistence.  Somehow there was an Audacity of  HOPE! Worldwide.

All of a sudden, as he stood in Burma, a nation under an oppressive regime, next to Aung San Suu Kyi a woman who suffered house arrest for 15 years. Who parallels Palestine in her personal life experience.  The world watched and witnessed the unmasking of a hero.  The words and the images were incongruous, because they did not match.

He, Mr Obama spoke words that were hollow. I cringed!

He was reading off a script that might as well have been penned in Zion.

Guardiandrone war in Pakistan which has cost an estimated 3,000 lives, nearly 900 of them civilians, since 2004.

He too was verbally following the dreaded old path of  dehumanizing.  As James Forsher said,  “The secret in propaganda is that when you demonize, you dehumanize.  “When you dehumanize, it allows you to kill your enemy and no longer feel guilty about it,”

The Civilian Impact of Drones: Unexamined Costs, Unanswered Questions

Drones are touted as the most precise and humane weapons platform in the history of warfare. The technological advance is significant, but covert drone strikes carry costs for civilians and local communities even as they become a policy norm. Blinded by the promise of this technology and reports of short-term effectiveness in killing militants, policymakers are failing to ask hard questions of the drones program, including whether other tactics or strategies are more appropriate to counterterrorism strategy, and whether US expansion of strikes to new places and against new groups is truly justified.

Current News

“For most human beings, it takes an awful lot to allow them to kill another human being,” said Anthony Pratkanis, a psychology professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. “The only way to do it is to justify the killing, to make the enemy look as evil as possible.”
“The secret in propaganda is that when you demonize, you dehumanize,” said James Forsher, a film historian and documentary filmmaker who has studied propaganda films, and who is an assistant professor of mass communications at California State University, Hayward.
“When you dehumanize, it allows you to kill your enemy and no longer feel guilty about it,” he said. “That is why during World War II, a lot of caricatures became animals. … You can kill a monkey a lot more easily than you can kill a neighbor.”

“I think the demonization of Islam and the Arab world is identical to what happened 100 years ago,” Winter said. “The Arab is now a stock figure, a caricature, a symbol of fanaticism, of infinite cruelty and no regard for human rights.”
